The story

Abdukodir Khusanov is an Uzbek central defender who made rapid progress through Belarusian football at Energetik-BGU Minsk before earning a move to RC Lens in Ligue 1, then signing for Manchester City in 2025. In his debut season at City he won both the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

After coming through the Bunyodkor academy, Khusanov spent 2022–23 at Energetik-BGU Minsk in Belarus before RC Lens signed him for the 2023–24 Ligue 1 season. He impressed sufficiently to attract interest from Manchester City, joining the Premier League champions ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

Internationally, Khusanov was a key member of the Uzbekistan side that won the 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup and reached the final of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup. He has accumulated 26 senior caps and is considered a cornerstone of Uzbekistan's defensive setup heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
