The story
Odilon Kossounou is a quick, composed centre-back from Abidjan who won two Belgian Pro League titles with Club Brugge and went on to play for Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta, earning a starting berth in Ivory Coast's 2023 AFCON-winning side.
After starting at ASEC Mimosas, Kossounou moved briefly to Hammarby before Club Brugge secured him in 2019. Back-to-back Belgian league titles followed, and his performances attracted Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, where he developed further over four seasons.
Atalanta took him on loan in 2024 and signed him permanently in 2025. He started three matches in the 2023 AFCON, including the final where Ivory Coast beat Nigeria to lift the trophy.
