The story

Pervis Estupiñán is Ecuador's starting left-back, a quick and attack-minded defender who won the UEFA Europa League with Villarreal in 2021 and subsequently moved to Brighton and then AC Milan. He has over 50 caps and was named in Copa América's Team of the Tournament in 2021.

Estupiñán joined Watford from LDU Quito in 2016 and was loaned to several Spanish clubs — Granada, Almería, Mallorca and Osasuna — before Villarreal signed him permanently in 2020, where he won the Europa League. Brighton paid a significant fee for him in 2022 before AC Milan acquired him in 2025.

He has 54 caps for Ecuador, scored 5 international goals and was recognised as one of the best left-backs at the 2021 Copa América.
